I would like to take this opportunity to give a bit of feed back you may otherwise not get. I really like the website and how it logs your MOT training because we all know realistically no one was really doing that other wise. The word around the workshop here is that people like using the training. I think that DVSA have forgotten to take into account that a lot of people are in this trade because they are dyslexic, like myself, or generally not very good with computer work and so on. The option to have the question read to you is a huge plus from me because after a few minutes of reading it becomes near enough impossible. Testers have become used to the daft questions in the exam but what I really struggled with this year is navigating the manual, I was finding myself back at the direct gov website home screen more often than not. I’m not sure of the rules round it but if tester could have an MOT Juice version of the MOT manual I’m sure that would be just as popular as the training material.

Just a bit of feedback from our last VE visit. It was a new VE, he introduced himself with his business card but did not give me a card in case of the need for future contact, nor did he leave his details with any member of staff. He came in whilst I was on test, he waited until I had finished, chatting to another technician, and then went over the vehicle I had just completed, he agreed with my result. After the “retest in 5 minutes” he then wanted to go through the site records as he had already been and checked the signs etc. I stated that we are new to MOT Juice, but I could tell by his manorism that he was not a fan of the system. He then proceeded to try and pick spots off the system, luckily I had familiarised myself with MOT Juice pretty well. I had an answer for everything. He then tried to trip me up on emission checks and paper copies of training and QC checks, all of these I have done a paper copy of as well. The next question was “where are the paper copies of the testers training log for their Annual Training” I said that it was all on MOT Juice, this he did not like, but I showed him anyway. We then got into a small disagreement of not having a paper copy, I ended it by printing off my Annual Training Record, this seemed to stop the conversation in it’s tracks. In my own opinion, this VE was new to the area, so he was “flexing his muscles”.

I just love what I am doing. Some feedback on the MOT Juice Site Manager Awareness course: I found the SMA course extremely useful, especially for someone very new to the role. MOT Juice made it so easy to follow with small bite-size modules and task based actions. As I followed each module I was able to implement changes and improvement to my site immediately and with the confidence I was being compliant with DVSA guidelines. Barry’s video introductions were easy to follow, not like some of the DVSA wording haha. My colleagues have even noticed how the site is now managed in a more positive and supportive way. What I liked most about the course is that I was able to reflect on my progress and take it in small easy to manage sections. Thanks MOT Juice!

Our MOT station has been using MOT Juice since April 2022. We have found the training to be very good and easy to keep us up to date. The ability to have all our certificates and information in one place is second to none. Ensuring compliance, calibrations and everything is up to date is very easy with the dashboard. In August 2022 we had a site review visit from our VE. With the help of MOT Juice we knew everything was going to be in order and we had answers for any questions our VE had. This stress free visit from our VE we had was worth the subscription cost alone.

My work pays for all of us as testers to use MOT Juice, and I’ve got to say I’m a huge fan. It makes all the annoying stuff easier – there’s a ‘panic button’ included for if VOSA [DVSA] turn up. All my CPD (including stuff outside of MOT Juice) is tracked. My monthly TQI reviews are easy and QC checks are seamless. It even lets you upload all the manuals/calibrations for all the equipment. If work didn’t pay for it, I’d do it! If nothing else, I recommend anyone go avail themselves of their FREE mock exam. An easy 5 stars from me.

Last years’ exam almost put an end to my MOT career as I suffer from anxiety and dyslexia and really struggled to get through the exams to the point I was close to giving up. This year with the mock exam available made things so much better for myself. I took the mock exam each day for a week, then on Saturday I took my real exam and didn’t feel anxious or stressed, just relaxed and sailed through the exam with 100% pass mark.
